The River Vefsna is the largest river system in Nordland — a true giant in Norwegian salmon and sea trout fishing, with more than 160 kilometres of waterways stretching from the mountains of Børgefjell to the Vefsnfjord by Mosjøen.This river carries a vibrant fishing tradition dating back to the mid-1800s, when British sportsmen travelled north in search of Atlantic salmon. Vefsna became a sought-after destination for English salmon anglers, and several villas were built along its banks for their use — including the historic Laksfors Villa, located beside one of the river’s very best pools at Laksforsen. In 1921, more than 500 salmon were landed in the Forsjord stretch alone, with an average weight of around 10 kg. In a record year, one angler caught an astonishing 32 salmon in a single day from the same location. This remarkable heritage gives fishing in Vefsna a character all its own — a modern angling experience deeply rooted in the very earliest days of the sport in Norway.

You will receive practical advice and hands-on tips on casting technique, fly or lure selection, how to read the river, and where to position yourself in the current. We share our knowledge throughout the day so that you do not simply fish — you learn. This is a calm and immersive experience in magnificent natural surroundings, with close follow-up and a focus on quality rather than quantity.
